4' Spruce paddle with wide blade

The 4’ wide blade paddle was originally developed for use on the Bosun Sailing Dinghy. Designed by Ian Proctor in the early 60’s for the Ministry of Defence, the low gunwale height meant the 5’ Admiralty paddle was a little tall for use by the crew, so the blade was kept the same and shaft shortened to accommodate. With over 2,500 Bosun dinghies in existence and often the need for spares, this has become a standard stock item.

At 4’ overall with the scolloped handle and chamfered blade tapering to the tip, they offer comfort as well as power should it be needed if the wind dies. Manufactured in Spruce with a standard 35mm shaft.
