    Value, Quality and Reliability.
If any oar has stood the test of time then it would have to be our Standard Pine Oar. When production first started over 40 years ago it was initially aimed to keep the workshop busy during a particularly quiet winter. Soon however, it was apparent that a well made, basic recreational rowing oar had filled a hole in the market place and became the equipment of choice, with many producers of dinghies and dayboats. Coupled with it's more robust nature, it was not long before the hire boat companies and a number of fisheries saw them as a good investment and the production runs of the standard oar became a regular feature of the production schedule.

The oar remains unchanged today, with the characteristic central spline and fluted blades attached to a slightly oval loom at the neck before becoming 43mm round at the button. They are available in a number of standard lengths that suit most applications.
Manufactured in selected Southern Yellow Pine, they are shaped on a machine, cleaned up by hand then sanded smooth and finished with 3 clear coats of single pack varnish. Intermediate sizes are also available on request.

These oars are supplied without rowlock protection, but we offer a range of options that can be found in accessories, from leather to slide on collars. So, whether they sit on the bottom boards of a sailing dinghy rarely used, or grace a wooden tender that a child is learning to row for the first time, the standard oar will always have a place in our workshop.

All Standard Oars are sold in pairs - the price quoted is per PAIR and includes VAT at the 20%
